Ted Cruz is on a mission to defend persecuted Christians
Ted Cruz is trying to distinguish himself from the rest of the creepy Republican candidates and he's decided the best way to stand out is a stand up for people who want to discriminate against same-sex couples who want to marry.
Dick and Betty Odgaard converted an old church into a flower shop, bistro and wedding venue. They refused to allow a gay couple to marry in the building, were sued and reached a settlement in December 2014. Afterward, they decided that they'd rather end their wedding business all together than allow their flower shop and bistro to be defiled by loving same-sex weddings. And now they are going out of business, which nobody wants to see, but maybe the easier route would've been to end their discriminatory ways?
Anyway, Ted Cruz is so inspired by their steadfast stance on discrimination—and the fact they are in the all-important primary state of Iowa—that he sat down for an interview with Dick and Betty. It's a wonder this guy is a United States Senator and not a big tent revival evangelist sneaking out of town before dawn with a bag full of cash:
