In what world does something like this make any sense?

A grocery store surveillance video shows a young black man holding his hands up in surrender before two New York police officers start pounding him in the head over the suspected theft of a $3 slice of pizza.
Thomas Jennings, 24, can be seen in the surveillance camera video leaning on the counter at a grocery store in Brooklyn on July 7, when NYPD officer Lenny Lutchman approaches from behind and immediately starts shoving him in the chest and grabbing his wrist. Jenning appears surprised and raises both hands in surrender.
Suddenly, Lutchman’s partner Pearce Martinez runs in and without breaking his stride or saying anything, rains down a full-force right hand punch to Jennings’ head. He continues to pummel him and Lutchman joins in, hitting Jennings with his baton. During the beating, Jennings remains curled over the counter and doesn’t fight back.
There will be people who will say that the Officers did "nothing wrong" that they have every right to start throwing punches over $3 worth of Pizza because "Black on Black" crime, Lutchman didn't "comply with Officers orders
fast enough" he was "uppity and arrogant", but if anyone else in the world, anyone without a badge, did this to you or me
On Camera those people would be going to jail for
Aggravated Assault, which is a much more severe crime than petty theft.

[He] Was a dollar short in the chicken store for his pizza, stepped outside to get a buck from a friend, another guy went in, pulled switchblade on clerk and they both left without paying for the pizza. Clerk called 911 to report the theft. Cops caught up with the 2 guys at another store a few blocks away and that's where this video was recorded.
The fact that you have questions at the end of your comment shows that this diary is not complete.
The guy was arrested on July 7, got 5 stitches to close up the cut over his eye, and gave an interview to NY Daily News on July 13 after getting out of jail.
