I wrote most of below earlier today as a comment but my duty demands I reach for a wider audience!!
Hillary Clinton has been labelled as a 'warmonger' by some at this site and this label is one in which, when used, I must personally become involved in investigating. It is my duty. My duty as President of the "Warmongers are People Too" club.
Let's begin with the definition of 'warmonger'. I know it by heart since we invoke it at each club meeting, but for the uninitiated here it is.
Merriam-Webster defines warmonger as:
"a person who wants a war or tries to make other people want to start or fight a war"
Well, if Hillary is the warmonger as those here have claimed then let's take a moment to reflect on her position in regards to our 'enemy' Iran. Iran, as our 'enemy' would certainly warrant a position from any self-respecting warmonger. So how soon should we invade Iran according to Hillary? Let's see when she says we should start the fun of our troops fighting and dying in
Iran.
“We must use all the tools at our disposal to address the serious challenge posed by Iran, including diplomacy, economic pressure and sanctions."
What? What happened to the preferable bomb, bomb, bomb Iran option? Warmongers like to preemptively bomb first then ask questions and I don't see where she even hinted at taking such decisive action. Now, I'm still sure people here are correctly crediting her as 'warmonger' and it was just a slip of the tongue, an oversight that can be easily ignored.
“I believe that a policy of diplomacy backed by economic pressure is the best way to check Iran’s efforts to acquire a nuclear weapons program and stop its support of terrorism, and the best way to avert a war. That’s why I took to the Senate floor last February and warned the president not to take military action against Iran without going to Congress first and why I’ve co-sponsored Sen. Webb’s legislation to make that the law of the land. I've been concerned for a long time over George Bush's saber rattling and belligerence toward Iran."
Sputter, sputter, sputter!!!! What's this all about?!? Diplomacy and economic pressure? A worry over saber rattling? This is becoming very concerning to us warmongers worldwide as we have a reputation to uphold! War first is always the only option, never diplomacy or ugh, weak-kneed economic sanctions!
“We must work to check Iran’s nuclear ambitions and its support of terrorism, and the sanctions announced today strengthen America's diplomatic hand in that regard. The Bush administration should use this opportunity to finally engage in robust diplomacy to achieve our objective of ending Iran's nuclear weapons program, while also averting military action. ..."
Wait a minute! What in the world is a 'warmonger' doing SUPPORTING diplomacy and AVERTING military action?
Let me check my enrollment list of warmongers......hmmm, Nixon? Check. Reagan? Check. GWB? Check with an infinity of Gold Stars.
Thought so. No Hillary Clinton listed.
Whew. Our reputation can go on unvarnished.
