Scott Walker was in Philadelphia today for about an hour and visited the famous Geno's steaks. Geno's is the steak joint that earned national attention for posting rude signs about immigrants. Walker received some harsh tweets from customers as they saw him as cutting the line. Walker's official line, of course, is he was escorted by the owner. Which, in essence, is still cutting. That kind of VIP attitude really doesn't go over well in Philadelphia, especially south Philly. From what I gather a few 60+ residents were excited to see him but that is about it.
Walker did also visit Pat's and was hounded by a few protesters with a few interesting signs that did make me laugh a bit. I'm sure he preferred Geno's since he took a photo with the owner and due to the blatant right-wing signs posted at the counter.
My favorite tweet from someone in attendance is:
He seems to have come across as very awkward. He essentially cut in line, ordered the wrong cheese, and didn't finish his cheesesteak. Philadelphia is a tough place and I'm not quite sure why he stopped here to be honest. But let's take a quick moment to laugh at the Governor for wasting time away from Iowa.
