Centuries ago when I first came to DKos, I was on dialup. I waited a long time after signing on to actually post a comment much less a diary. Then -- one diarist -- she's in the ether but not gone, posted a diary about Southern California wildfires and horses at risk.
A bunch of us folks who can be all over the place politically, just jumped in. We had Fuck all for sending info at first --- I was copying, pasting and doing what you do to copy links. Then somebody, maybe Marcus Tulliius and or our dear cedwyn figured out out something -- google doc????
What I remember most of all is a bunch of disconnected people who worried about folks they didn't know and sent out info for safe routes out of the fires and places who were taking large animals.
That's the DKos I loved -- and it is still here. We don't need fire diaries because the webz is more sophisticated. What we do need are the same folks -- the pimp shoes pimper (SallyCat) the Remembering Jello guy who pimped our fire diaries in kos diaries and many others who kept important life saving diaries on the rec list -- in the olden days.
We now have wanton murders of Black, mentally ill folks, more fires and civil unrest. We have voter ID shite and every fucking Republican hating women and minorities.
I'd like it if we got back to the olden days of crap access, but real activism. I really love those folks who saved friends of my mother during that firestorm.
Democracy is about us -- not asshole politicians. It is about being afraid for Red or Blue folks whose lives are destroyed. We are the good guys so don't forget that.
