For anyone who wanted to read a potential Biden-Warren presidential run into yesterday's reports of a meeting between VP Joe Biden and Sen. Elizabeth Warren, make of this what you will:
Former Sen. Jim Webb (D-Va.), who’s currently running for president, said Sunday that he had a private meeting with Vice President Biden last month.
Webb, appearing on CNN’s “State of the Union,” said he met with Biden for roughly an hour...
Webb, who is currently running far behind Hillary Clinton and Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) in the Democratic race, gave few details on his meeting with Biden.
“I think private meetings are best left that way,” he said, adding that he “wouldn’t get into another individual’s potential campaign.”
But Webb did say that “it doesn’t surprise me that he’s sitting there and talking to someone who has a strong record on economic fairness issues.”
So does that mean Biden is considering a Biden-Webb presidential run? Or that Biden is seeking the approval of the conservative-leaning but anti-war sliver of the Democratic Party?
I think it means he's just doing the rounds of the party elders, getting their advice and feeling out support for if he does decide to run.
I just hope each and every one of them tells him it's time to retire his presidential dreams, go write his memoirs, and spend his golden years playing with his grandchildren.
