This occurrence, in front of what analysts are saying could very well be a widespread selloff across the world's major markets today.
I know a fair amount about economics (mostly academically though), but am not going to offer much analysis here as there are better kossacks and better analysts in general to do so, rather than me.
The recession really sucked. Is this going to mean a negative quarter for us coming up? Quite possibly...but I think in this case the US is in a much stronger position than it was in 2008 relative to the rest of the world, and we may come out of this week's issues in a stronger position than last time we had such a precipitous drop.
