In honor of the
St. James African Methodist Episcopal Church in Asheville, and all they do for the local and larger community, we will be dedicating the proceeds of this auction to this important church in the heart of Asheville. The great work
NC NAACP is doing to move North Carolina
"Forward Together, Not One Step Back", is reflected by the church's action and involvement. This auction is an opportunity for the Daily Kos community to support the church's efforts and to thank them for hosting
Reverend William Barber II when he comes to Asheville on
Friday, September 25th at 12:30 PM to welcome Daily Kos to North Carolina for Asheville Connects on September 26th.
It's easy and fun so please jump onboard and help us raise money for St. James A.M.E. Church. To learn more about the history of St. James and the greater AME Church, please read this diary where you can also see photos of this beautiful church, both inside and out.
We have joined with a free online auction service, eFlea to help us manage the donation and bidding process. The website, being free, has advertisements but the upside is that there is no fee for creating the auction site and there is no percentage of money collected going back to the service. 100% of the money we raise goes to St. James A.M.E. Church. navajo will cover the PayPal fees as part of her donation.
Please jump the fold to find out more about the auction and how you can help. And, if you'd rather just bypass the auction and donate a few dollars to St. James A.M.E. Church, here's their donation page. Small donations add up!
The auction officially started on Monday 9/7 at 1:00 AM and will end on Friday 9/25 at 11:45 PM. The site is available now for registration and bidding. Our next goal at this point is to get some auction items. See below on how to make that happen. This part is up to you so start collecting!
How It Works
You must register to participate and then sign in to place a bid on a listed item or items.
To donate an item, please email me at randalltdkos@gmail.com with a nice description of the item and an attached photo. Also please include a minimum bid that you would like to start from.
After bidding closes on September 25th, the auction service will automatically e-mail the winners.
The winning bids are final and the winning bidders will be responsible for making the donation through the PayPal link.
The donor is responsible for shipping and handling of the item to the winning bidder.
I will be tracking all items through the system and will be responsible for following up with donors and bidders if issues arise.
Following is a screenshot of the auction site and official information from the auction service.

The time on this server will be used to determine the start and end times of the auction. This time may be off from your local time. Refer to the approximate time in the right hand side of this page.
When the auction closes, all bidders will receive an e-mail regarding the status of the items they have bid on.
The highest bid placed on an item, by auction close, is the winner. There can only be one winner per auction item. The auction administrator (group hosting the auction) agrees to sell the item to the highest bidder.
You must register an account in order to place bids. Click Register Now on the right hand side of this page in the login area. Once you have registered, a confirmation/activation will be emailed to you. You must click on the link in the email message to complete the registration process. If you haven't received your confirmation email, please check your "junk mail" or "spam" folder as it may have gone there. You can also re-request the confirmation email. The link for resending the activation code can be found in the login area.
So look around and see what you have that someone else would love to have. Let's make this auction a powerful and fun experience for all of us as we support
St. James African Methodist Episcopal Church in their goal of making this community, state and this nation move "Forward Together, Not One Step Back". Thanks in advance for your participation, let's rock this!
