I am sitting in my sister's home, all alone. Well, except for Peanut the Bull Terrier, and honestly, when Peanut is around, you're never alone.
He greeted me at the door, showed me the way to the couch, blocked the way to the bathroom, and celebrated that I put laundry into the washer. Woo-hoo! Life is awesome, when you're The Peanut.
I'm on my younger nephew's PC. I'd use my own, but then I'd have to figure out how to link into their wifi... this was just much more easy. I'm planning to type up a diary and then go lie on the couch and take a nap. My sister says it's no good for sleeping on, but I've grabbed some naps there on Thanksgivings and Christmases.
Peanut will enjoy that, too.
Last night was odd - back at the site where I'd slept on the gym pad, last week. The Our Savior without a U, a Catholic church in Carol Stream. The last couple of weeks had been stressful. The PADS counselor announced that not everyone would get in, went off to talk to someone, and then came back and said, "Ok... everyone is getting in, so I guess we'll be using the gym pads."
I saw NO indication that gym pads were used. I didn't get a new, comfy pad, but I also wasn't on a pad used for handsprings. Another woman pointed out that because the men's pads are always set out first. they all have the new thicker pads, and the women mostly have old thin pads. (After the gym pad, the old thin pad felt pretty great, though.)
Two women who I've seen frequently were in the pads just to my left... they seemed to be on something. I asked whether they were ok - they said, just tired (which I understand!!!!), but one of them could barely keep her balance and kept brushing her nose.
Sorry for the interruption, Peanut just walked in to wag his tail at me for awhile.
We talked a little before dinner, but then I got into reading my book & when lights went out, I listened to STEPHEN FRY read Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone to me. It was so nice. Unfortunately, the ear bud would fall out, and then I'd wake up to replace it... I think I woke up at least 6 times. But I fell back asleep pretty quickly, thanks to Stephen.
This morning, those women looked a lot better - well, the one who didn't have the itchy nose looked a LOT better, and the other one looked better than she had. Apparently someone had promised them a ride to the PADS Center, and then backed out at the last minute. That site is a LONG way from anywhere. So, when they asked whether one of the two could have a drive to the Center (the one who looked a LOT better), I said ok - explaining the seating issue.
It worked out fine, I dropped her off. She apologized for not having money or a gas card - which was pretty much why I gave her the ride - because she needed it. Then I sat in a park for awhile (until my nephews were at school), and headed off to my sister's house to meditate with The Peanut. Unfortunately, they have an entire entertainment center with tv, dvr, vcr and wii, and at least 5 remotes...
And I can't turn on the tv. :) I can watch the movies or shows I own through Amazon, though (like I do in the library) or listen to Stephen Fry read me Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets...
it seems like I should do something more productive, but right now laundry and sleep are the two big things on my immediate needs list.
That's the news from the homeless and The Peanut in a private residence in Lombard, Illinois.
