A new poll released today has Hillary Rodham Clinton ahead of Marco Rubio, a very possible GOP nominee in the state of....Texas? A state that last voted Democratic in 1976, that Bill Clinton was the first Democrat to win the WH without, and Obama the second.
Among registered voters (n=801; MOE +- 3.35%); Among likely voters (n=633; MOE +- 3.9%)
Registered Voters Likely Voters
1. Marco Rubio 22% 27%
2. Hillary Clinton 32% 34%
3. (Not Sure) 44 40%
Guys, this is HUUUGEEE news. She's also ahead of Trump with reg. voters, and MoE with "likely voters." She's close with John Bush, whose brother was rather pop there and won landslides there for Prez. Yes, I know there are a lot of undecideds, but this happens in states about to make a big swing.
If the Democratic nominee can make Texas, with 38 electoral votes a swing state, the GOP is doomed. Remember, the last time the GOP won without Texas, 1968, they used to win states like California, Illinois, New Jersey, etc. (states that Bill Clinton turned blue in '92 and never turned back).
Also, PollingReport has a poll which shows HRC much more competitive than Obama and Kerry in Louisiana, which hasn't voted Dem since 1996. It went Bill Clinton 53-37 that year, and today has 8 electoral votes. She beats Jindal there too.
The last time the Democratic nominee (not counting Wallace in 1968) won Louisiana and lost the election was Adlai Stevenson in 1952, meaning that if Hillary wins Louisiana as JFK, Jimmy Carter, Bill Clinton (twice) did, the GOP is even more done.
