Hey gang, can we please stop using the word "eviserate" to title just about every diary about a verbal take-down of "____" (add least your favorite politician/pundit/column/whatever here)? Jeebus folks, it's shown up in the title of two recommended diaries this week and I think about once a week since GWB was first elected. Frankly, I'm really tired of seeing the word. There must be a better word out there, one that isn't so overused.
Continued below the orange pile of…well...eviseration.
Sure, it might be accurate…but not really. As far as I know, no goat guts were spilled in any of the "eviserating" diaries over the last decade or so (except for one notable non-diary exception, referenced below) and I don't think that the recent Kos diary "Robert Reich Eviscerates..." even contains any goat guts, either. The editorial may contain some BS perhaps, but still no goat guts. Surely (don't call me Shirley) there has got to be a better word - or at lease one that hasn't been beaten into bloody pulp - to describe a verbal or written take-down-a-notch of an event or person, however deserving.
OK, I'm not an English teacher and I'm terrible with comma placement. But I'm really tired of all this eviseration. It's almost as bad as hearing the word "awesome" fifty times a day. Not quite…but close.
