I have been busy outdoors today doing fall chores around the property. So I don't have a lot of time to write a diary tonight. A couple nights ago we had a big wind storm that lasted for hours. Winds were 30-40 mph with gusts up to 70 mph according to the weather service. When we get hours of winds like this, things break. Trees break especially now days after 4 years of drought. The trees are dry and snap off a lot easier. Here's a picture below of an oak tree that met its end from the wind storm. It is located just barely on the property next to ours. You can't tell from the picture really, but that tree was about 70 feet tall with a diameter of about 18 inches at the base and probably about 12 inches where it broke. It will become a good couple of cords of wood. Not mine however.
The only thing that broke at our place was the pole bean trellis. The "wall of pole beans" being blown by high winds was too much for the 3/4ths inch PVC pipe. Actually the tubes themselves didn't break. A T-fitting completely blew up causing the entire pole bean group to fall over. Being pole beans they could take being completely bent over. I went to the hardware store and bought a new T-fitting in the picture below. The fix cost a whopping $0.32.
What do you want to kibitz about tonight?

Kitchen Table Kibitzing is a community series for those who wish to share part of the evening around a virtual kitchen table with kossacks who are caring and supportive of one another. So bring your stories, jokes, photos, funny pics, music, and interesting videos, as well as links—including quotations—to diaries, news stories, and books that you think this community would appreciate. Readers may notice that most who post diaries and comments in this series already know one another to some degree, but newcomers should not feel excluded. We welcome guests at our kitchen table, and hope to make some new friends as well.
