In August the New York Times columnist Nicholas Kristof
made this claim:
More Americans have died from guns in the United States since 1968 than on battlefields of all the wars in American history.
Clearly, Nicholas Kristof hates America. Based on the
American War and Military Operations Casualties: Lists and Statistics, Louis Jacobson calculated, very liberally, that
1,396,733 Americans have died in our wars (including the Civil War's higher estimates of death). In the Second Amendment's defense Kristof included suicides and homicides and as we all know guns don't kill people, people kill people and by that logic Mr. Kristof is terribly wrong—no one has ever been killed by a gun.
Case closed.
