This quote from Jeff Weaver, Sanders' campaign manager, really rubbed me the wrong way.
Look, she’d make a great vice president. We’re willing to give her more credit than Obama did. We’re willing to consider her for vice president. We’ll give her serious consideration. We’ll even interview her.
It's childish, condescending and insulting to both Clinton and Obama, and it does Sanders no favors. You can read the whole article on RawStory
here.
Let's unpack this a bit, shall we?
Look, she’d make a great vice president.
Big talk for a guy whose boss is trailing by +20 nationally.
We’re willing to give her more credit than Obama did.
This little sentence packs TWO insults! First, the "willing to give her..." is dripping with condescension and is denigrating to Clinton. Next, to somehow insinuate that Obama does not regard Clinton with respect because he ONLY made her Secretary of State? That's some next-level BS.
And finally:
We’ll give her serious consideration. We’ll even interview her.
That's just some straight-up trolling. I bet he thought he was being funny. I guess you can take it that way, after a few rounds of beer-pong with your bros at the frat house.
And then campaign coordinator, Tad Devine, had this to say:
"She had a great debate, but against a great debater she would have been killed."
So, I guess Tad thinks both Clinton and Sanders suck at debating. I thought they were both great.
How many supporters do these two expect to reel in with this crap? I'm a Clinton supporter, but also admire Sanders. These guys are beneath him.
