It feels like it's been a while since we've gotten the chance to see Rep. Steve King (R-racist) being a horrible person. He hasn't stopped, mind you, but the background noise of Rep. Steve King being a horrible person has been washed out as of late by a Republican presidential field full of much louder horrible people. Not to worry, he's still
a giant piece of crap.
If Rep. Steve King (R-IA) has his way, undocumented immigrants could be deported for protesting in congressional buildings in Washington, D.C. His office is circulating a bill titled “Ending the Sanctuary Capitol Policy Act of 2015,” which would authorize the Capitol Police to turn over undocumented immigrants protesting or rallying on Capitol Hill grounds for potential deportation proceedings, according to a copy of the bill obtained by ThinkProgress.
They don't do this now because enforcing federal immigration laws are not part of their job description, and also because they are not horrible people. King wants to change those, because he has had it up to
here with all those ... ethnic people ... coming to his office to ask Steve King to not be America's most prominent "English-only" anti-immigration racist piece of crap. No dice, says Steve King. If he wants to opine that undocumented immigrants have cantaloupe-sized calf muscles from hauling their massive loads of marijuana across the Texas desert then that's what he'll do, and to hell with your standards of "truth" and "evidence," and if you come to his office to show him that you don't actually have cantaloupe-sized calves from hauling drugs then he will make sure you get deported for the sin of confronting him.
ThinkProgress opines that this will-never-pass bill is likely just a publicity stunt in order to draw attention to Steve King's primary current reason for living, targeting so-called "sanctuary cities" that allow their law enforcement officers to help undocumented persons victimized by crimes without those victims having to worry that merely reporting the crime will result in their own deportation. I think that's giving King too much credit, and it's much more logical to presume Steve King wants to deport people who show up at his office because Steve King is a gigantic piece of crap who wants to deport people who show up at his office.
