It is not hard to find numerous diaries preaching about the fact they would never vote for Hillary if she wins the nomination. Nor is it hard to find numerous comments littering a hundred threads with the exact same rhetoric.
You can talk to Bernie supporters in just about every corner of the internet, and find a handful who are more than willing to state Hillary isn’t a true progressive, she is not left enough, or any of a hundred excuses about why they would not support the Democratic nominee.
You can even go as far as to find some who, if Bernie doesn’t win the nomination, would vote for Trump instead of Hillary.
Many of them claim there is no difference between Hillary and the Republicans. Many say we should just wait for the next real progressive, although aside from Bernie they would be hard pressed to name ANY real progressive aside from him. Sherod was one, but not anymore. Now he is a sellout. Warren hasn’t endorsed anyone yet, but if it ends up being Hillary, she will be a sell out too.
“Many” supporters from both sides have no higher purpose than single issues like the 1%, but there are tons of other issues to be considered.
So let’s take a moment to congratulate those who would not support the nominee, be it Bernie or Hillary. Here is what you have won!
With the republicans controlling all branches of the government and adding on at least another far right ideologue on SCOTUS then after 8 years we will have:
No minimum wage increases at all.
2-3 more wars guaranteed because they at the core believe we should be everywhere
Roe v wade overturned, and if its not possible even more restrictions on abortions nationwide.
The end of planned parenthood
Gay marriage overturned — i.e “Preserving and Protecting Traditional Marriage”
Higher taxes
Higher gas prices
MORE police brutality since they side with the cops 100% of the time
More gerrymandered districts so that it is even harder to elect Democrats
MORE racism toward POC, especially those from south and Syrians.
The end of the new relationship with Cuba.
MORE privacy invasions
Patriot ACT II
No single payer and a flat out repeal of Obamacare
Guns in every single hand
Welcome back to 2005! Wasn’t that an AWESOME couple of years for progressive progress?
That’s okay, in 2025 after all this glorius legislation is in, we can come back and maybe elect someone who can start from scratch in the social rights achieved thus far. By the time that president gets out of office, we will be back to...just about where we are now.
