From both side of the isle, there is a vocal few who loudly proclaim that if their candidate losing the primary, million of their supporters will stay home.
I and others have pointed out repeatedly that there was more at stack in this election. It is bigger than the first woman president, or fighting against the 1%.
From Bernie supporters calls like: “I will never vote for that woman”. As I have seen more from this side of the primary I will use it as the example, although neither side is excused.
So to those who do match the above line, let’s discuss the implications before and now.
In a general election match up if your candidate loses, you will take your ball and go home. I mean come on now, Bush, Rubio, Fiorina, and Carson may tear the country apart, but then we can elect a real progressive leader. Am I right? Huh huh?
That is a great sentiment. Wrong for the overall health of our citizens according to many, but a great sentiment which may be what is needed. Don’t fix the problems, tear the entire system down and start from scratch.
However, recently I feel that entire viewpoint must be changed and here’s why.
“Maybe he should have been roughed up, because it was absolutely disgusting what he was doing,”
-Trump

This hateful, racist, islamophobic, and at times misogynistic low life may in fact win the republican primary. With the new idea of registration databases and it being okay to beat up protesters now for “being too loud”, this is a very very dangerous situation for our country.
We are on the tipping point where we might have a President that is better than Anonymous about pulling the masks off of bigotry and racism. Why would they need to hide when they will get personally congratulated by the sitting President?
He is not even trying to walk some of it back, he is relishing in it. Some of his most venomous supporters are too. Want to be sick? Go check out his supporters in the comment sections on places like Hotair.
So vote or don’t in the primary, that’s up to you. But when the general election comes, if he is the nominee and you stay home… you in fact are part of the problem.
