These two pretty ladies just got rescued this morning and are in need of good, forever homes.
Mama, Rachel (she’s not attached to the name), is petite and all black — am guessing she’s about 8 months old. She had at least two kittens, one has previously been adopted into a happy home. Rachel’s scheduled to be fixed on Monday, and I would deeply like to find her a home to return to after her procedure. For a feral cat, she was quite well-mannered when she was caught in the (cat-friendly) trap. I believe she’ll be able to adapt quickly to having a home. She has hissed at me a couple times previously, but am pretty sure it was just a reminder that she could get all mama-bear on my hide if I threatened her baby. She never looked the slightest bit threatening and she was calm when I sat just a few feet from her when she ate the past couple weeks. She felt comfortable with the baby interacting with me when the three of us were together. She’s been used to lots of people milling about.
Some cats look like they would like to have a home, and she’s got that look. Fending for oneself is hard work, even with a well-stocked dumpster available.

Chloe (again, not attached to this name) looks to be about two months old and is a beautiful Tortoise Shell, so very likely a female. She had been eating solid food, so I feel confident that she’s ok to be adopted (and her sibling adopted several weeks ago is thriving). She was of course anxious when first captured, but she has been quiet and doing well now that she’s inside. She’s in my bathroom and appears comfortable. She’s not anxious to be held, but she allows me to hold and snuggle her some. She prefers to crawl up onto my shoulders. She’s curious and playful and had been getting to know me when I would bring them food, so she was calmed by my voice on her way to my apartment.

I already have a previously feral mama and one of her babies (also a Tortoise Shell — I have a soft spot for them), so am at my cat limit for my apartment. As much as I would truly love for Chloe to be a part of my family, it is not allowed.
Please message me if you have room in your family for one of these sweet girls.

Well, my goodness. I had previously scheduled a training tonight for registering voters (before the cat trapper let me know this morning was the only time she was available), so I was cautious about leaving this baby alone for a stretch. She seemed sad and exhausted when I left, so I was hoping she would rest.
I got home with some kitten milk which was lapped right up, and she scarfed some more wet food. Then she began looking perkier, so I introduced her to the scratching post: LOVE AT FIRST SIGHT.
And TOYS!!!!! I have never seen a kitten act like it’s Christmas morning before! Her eyes are as wide as possible, and she’s figured out every game I brought in (she’s a Tortie — they do that!). She’s pulled a half dozen balls and such out of the busy box and has played with each before going back to pull out something else. I’ll be kinda heartbroken to find her a home, but this is definitely worth it to have her feel safe and be so playful just hours after coming inside!
