Latest poll just out from Monmouth University Poll has Bernie with a 53% to 39% lead over Clinton.
Back in November Clinton actually led by 48% to 45%. Quite a turn around. 538 rates Monmouth as “A-”.
“New Hampshire Democratic preferences are getting baked in, with Sanders gaining the upper hand. The final question will be who does a better job at turning out their respective voting blocs,” said Patrick Murray, director of the independent Monmouth University Polling Institute in New Jersey.
… registered Democrats will almost certainly make up the majority of February’s electorate. Unfortunately for Clinton, she (42%) she is now losing this group
to Sanders (50%), where she had claimed a sizable 57% - 35% lead just two months ago. Among independents and new voters likely to take part in the primary, Sanders enjoys a 58% - 34% advantage, similar to his 59% - 35% lead in November.
Found this also of interest:
Sanders (50%) has also overtaken Clinton (44%) among women voters, erasing a 37% to 56% deficit from two months ago. He continues to lead among men by 57% - 32%, which is similar to his 54% - 37% edge in November.
With all the good news and media attention that Bernie has received in the last few days I think it’s time to change the slogan from “Feel The Bern” To “Bernie Sanders: Catching Fire”.
UPDATE: (HT to LiperDestin) Sanders Surges In Iowa Democratic Caucus, Quinnipiac University Poll Finds; Big Gender Gap As Men Back Sanders 2-1
538 rates Quinnipiac at “B+”.
The Iowa Democratic Caucus is going down to the wire as Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders wins the support of 49 percent of likely Democratic Caucus participants, with 44 percent for former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and 4 percent for former Maryland Gov. Martin O'Malley, according to a Quinnipiac University poll released today.
This compares to the results of a December 15 survey by the independent Quinnipiac (KWIN-uh-pe-ack) University showing Clinton at 51 percent, with 40 percent for Sanders.
There is a yawning gender gap as men back Sanders 61 - 30 percent, with 6 percent for O'Malley, while women back Clinton 55 - 39 percent, with 3 percent for O'Malley.
|
Sanders also has a big lead on favorability as likely Democratic Caucus participants give him an 87 - 3 percent favorability rating, compared to Clinton's 74 - 21 percent score. |
I think this is the most telling quote:
"Sen. Sanders' surge seems based on the perception by Iowa Democrats that he is a better fit for Iowans. They see him, by solid double digit margins as more sharing their values, more honest and trustworthy and viewed more favorably overall than is Secretary Clinton."
