Looking at the state polling for the Dem primary on 538, it's hard to see the path to a Bernie victory. Maybe a revolution will rise up, maybe not.
Should it not, I think there's a serious reason to consider Bernie for the VP position:
He seems to do well with white (and other) people in key states that we need to win in the general election, (Ohio, for example) key constituents in key states that seem to connect to Bernie’s brand of populism.
I might argue that while people like Julian Castro would also be exciting choices, there could be reason to believe that Hillary and Bernie actually compliment one another in a very (dare I say) synergistic way, reaching and inspiring all spectrums of the potential big Democratic tent.
And Bernie already has an Obama-esque campaign machine in operation, with connections to dedicated movement liberals and leaders as well as energetic people new to the process.
We should think about the kinds of people that Hillary needs to win from Trump’s demographic, (angry nonpartisan whites) if we're going to truly crush him as Neofascists need to be crushed. We should think about the relationship between Hillary and Bernie as the campaigns progress, and probably try to keep it cordial.
If there's an honorable way to appeal to angry white people in Ohio while we beat Trump to bits, and I think Bernie can be uniquely well suited to that, then I think it sounds like something Hillary should seriously consider.
