He’s breaking ground.
He’s proving that democracy works and has results.
He is saying what everyone knows to be true and he’s been saying it for 30 years. He’s been saying it ever since Reagan and trickle down economics.
He’s saying that the Affordable Care Act was a compromise and not a victory.
He’s telling you that having access to quality healthcare for everyone is not only possible but morally right and good and prudent to a civilized society.
He’s pointing out that educating your children to the highest level possible is the best thing that you can do, not only for their future, but yours; and there’s a way to pay for it by taking part of the incentive away from financial institutions which purposefully exclude the general population.
He is warning you that these same banks you bailed out, and are almost undoubtedly and ironically obligated to; these banks still pose a very serious risk to the mostly service economy in which you preside.
He is saying that in times of uncertain climate activity you shouldn’t be poisoning your water and pumping it deep into the ground just to subsidize a dying, dirty, and unsustainable energy source.
He’s proving the skeptics wrong. And he’s not pandering or compromising or asking for special favors.
Look at the Republican side. Do you see Donald Trump up there. Pinching yourself doesn’t work does it? That’s because you’re awake. Donald Trump is at 24% and expected to do better in other states. Marco Rubio is a terrible freshman senator and is in 3rd.
And Ted Cruz? Is this really happening? I know that doesn’t say much after Huckabee in 2008 and Santorum in 2012 but he’s still polling in 2nd. Ben Carson got 9%! I really don’t know what to say to that except that maybe a very real fear of the end of the world has gotten people so crazy they actually think voting for a quasi preacher like person will get them brownie points with God? Does that explain Huckabee and Santorum too?
Basically what I’m saying, unfortunately, is that nearly half the population (a quarter of it reliably) is being successfully swayed by increasingly radical and anti democratic candidates and policies. So you see. What I’m also saying is that the country most certainly would be better after a Hillary Clinton Presidency. But it’s not enough.
What we’re seeing with Bernie Sanders, I think, is a candidate who is so authentic he can stroll into the Iowa caucuses openly talking about how he is not active in organized religion and still be a contender.
He can be a Jew who grew up in Brooklyn and walks for civil rights and stands up for women and unions and veterans because he’s lived it under the public eye.
He’s the one who’s telling us to turn our attention to our infrastructure and put our attention on productive jobs.
He has experience and is dealing with the contrast between rural and urban environments when it comes to gun policy and other issues.
So why do you care if he can’t deliver on everything he’s campaigning for? What if he does? What if we break up the banks and thousands of kids can go to college for free but we can’t get healthcare for everyone?
Why is that bad? Seriously? Why do you even care when you don’t even know if the other candidates can follow through with the promises they make? You might as well not even vote then!
But it’s an election year right? So more people tend to vote and that means more people talking about Government. So…
Spend more time talking about the things you want government to invest in and less time talking about threats and hate and pushing people away. And spend more time talking about Bernie Sanders.
Sure he’s old. He’s white. He’s a man. He’s a democratic socialist. But...
Bernie Sanders is winning and now it’s obvious.
