In the comments section, Willa Roger's pointed out something that I think captures the core of the problem:
She [meaning Walton] hasn’t really “supported many liberal candidates in the past,” especially compared to how she’s supported Republicans in the past.
She’s playing her Trump card; i.e., donating to pols from both parties. Just like Blankfein does.
This is really important to point out. There are two $30k donations to the RNC, and another donation to Mitt Romney that I see after just a brief glance at just the first handful of donations. It does not mean that I think that Hillary Clinton is a Republican in disguise, but, to me, it does mean that the kind of economic populism that would help marginalized communities the most will continue to fail until we tackle this problem.
This is just one clear example in which both parties are getting money from the same donor. These donors trump around taking credit for how philanthropic they are when in reality they lack any core values. Seriously, how could someone not looking for political favors donate hundreds of thousands of dollars to two political parties that are ostensibly on the opposite side of most economic issues?
Friends, this is not about slamming Hillary Clinton, it's about a deep systemic problem we have in our government, and we all need to stand up to it, before it's too late.
