For those wondering why Planned Parenthood didn’t sue those slimy abortion video guys who released the deceptively edited videos— Planned Parenthood did sue, for damages.
But also, the National Abortion Federation (NAF), the umbrella organization representing all abortion providers in the US sued to prevent the “Center for Medical Progress,” the despicable group perpetrating the fraud, from releasing any more videos.
Those now-indicted video guys didn’t just sneak into a couple of clinics. Their fraud was perpetrated over a long period of time. They set up a phony medical supply company with phony officers, and used fake IDs to get into the NAF’s annual meeting. They signed binding confidentiality agreements that they wouldn’t divulge anything about the meetings, agreements they clearly had no intention of keeping.
Last summer, the NAF sued and got a preliminary restraining order prohibiting them from releasing any more videos. Yesterday, the New York Times reports, Judge William Orrick issued a preliminary injunction enjoining them from releasing anything they obtained at the meeting. (I’m not sure what the difference is between a preliminary restraining order and a preliminary injunction. Also, the latest court documents don’t seem to be up on the website yet.)
As to their claim that they were journalists, Judge Orrick dismissed it out of hand. Their works “thus far have not been pieces of journalistic integrity, but misleadingly edited videos and unfounded assertions,” he wrote.
I hope this good news can bring the warring Hillary and Bernie factions together for a little celebration.

I forgot to add: The judge reviewed the hundreds of hours of unreleased video and saw no illegal behavior. He said nobody “admitted to engaging in, agreed to engage in, or expressed interest in engaging in potentially illegal sale of fetal tissue for profit.”
