As a woman approaching 50, I'm floored, and offended, by the assumptions of some supposed progressives in this country, this site definitely included. Apparently, even nearly 20 years into the 21st century, because I'm a vagina 'haver', I'm supposed to vote, feel, believe, and be a certain way. Seriously, I'm floored!
My Bitty Feminist History
I was born way too late to fight for the vote, or even to fight for the ERA, but I began vocalizing my disagreement with being forced to do some things and forbidden from doing others based, solely, on my anatomy, at a very early age.
WTF is that all about, anyway?
Exactly what part of my vagina was used to slave in the kitchen, both before and after Thanksgiving & Christmas Dinners (and all other meals for that matter), along with all the other vagina 'havers' in my extended family, while the penis 'havers' sat on their asses watching football, whining about being hungry and waiting to be served? What part was it?
What part of their penises did the penis 'havers' in sixth grade use to play flag football during PE, while we vagina 'havers' were made to sit and watch? I even led the incursion of the flag football game, which actually led to us vagina 'havers' being "allowed" to play against the penis 'havers' until I (yes, I was the one, so it really looked awful) accidentally, while grabbing at the flag, grabbed, well . . . a crotch with a penis in it. It was a short-lived victory that crashed and burned all because of anatomy. Stupid assed, pointless, anatomy.
As you can imagine, speaking up about these injustices, as well as numerous others, was not received well by the Patriarchal penis 'havers' in my family and even with my own mom, another vagina 'haver', as well as the very old vagina 'haver' who "coached" us to sit and watch the penis 'havers' play. (After the penis incident – she forced us all inside the gym to do aerobics [vomit] every single day [more vomit], unless the weather was bad, when we sat and watched the penis 'havers' play inside the gym [just get used to the vomit, honey].)
Screw that!
A Band of Women Call Me Anti-Feminist?
Now, in the 21st century, I'm being told that I'm really a man since actual women don't really support Bernie Sanders (CT much?). And, a once avid feminist, Gloria Steinem, has gone so far as to make the sexist claim that young female Bernie supporters are only doing so to meet boys. (Excuse me; I just vomited in my mouth!)
Then there's Madeleine Albright, whose net worth is a measly $10,000,000, opining about females and "a special place in hell", implying that any female who doesn't vote for her very good, long-time friend and cohort, Hillary, is going to hell. Not only that, she talked down to younger women. Just watch the linked video – in which Hillary open-mouth laughed after the weird, sexist comment.
They both belong to the "dead broke" millionaires’ club. Here's a quote about how hard it was: "struggled to piece together the resources for mortgages for houses". . . Golly gosh, must be so hard finding mortgages for multiple houses!
What about the people who can't even afford rent now that they've lost their ONLY FUCKING HOUSE? How about those of us who'll never, ever be able to own a house?
I just wonder how Madeleine knows so much about what types of places hell has in it. Someone should ask her if there's a special place in that same type of special place in hell for bigots like her who say things like this on camera: "Disgusting Serbs, get out!" And being such a staunch supporter of Iraqi children killed by sanctions.
Here’s a little of what she said she supported from above quote:
A May 25, 2000 BBC article[45] reported that before Iraq sanctions were imposed by the UN in 1990, infant mortality had "fallen to 47 per 1,000 live births between 1984 and 1989. This compares to approximately 7 per 1,000 in the UK." The BBC article was reporting from a study of the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine, titled "Sanctions and childhood mortality in Iraq", that was published in the May 2000 Lancet medical journal.[46] The study concluded that in southern and central Iraq, infant mortality rate between 1994 and 1999 had risen to 108 per 1,000. Child mortality rate, which refers to children between the age of one and five years, also drastically inclined from 56 to 131 per 1,000.[45] In the autonomous northern region during the same period, infant mortality declined from 64 to 59 per 1000 and under-5 mortality fell from 80 to 72 per 1000, which was attributed to better food and resource allocation.
What a hateful, greedy, horrible person! With friends like that, I don't know who needs enemies. Holy hell! And you wonder why I'm a Bernie supporter?
I’m Sexist Because I Have a Hoo-Hoo & Don’t Feel the Hill’s History? Srsly?
It's implied that, as a woman, I'm a sexist if I don't vote for Hillary because - historical moment. What on earth will my ever so delicate senses do in races without a vagina 'haver' running? Just not vote at all? Golly, oh gosh, oh my. After all, I OBVIOUSLY can't think for myself; can't possibly see glaring differences, or make my own choices.
Speaking of historical moments, can anyone tell me the name of our first Jewish president? Yeah, there hasn't been one. Can anyone tell me the name of our first African American president? Yep, Obama! That's right.
Know what neither of them did or have done while running for president? Exactly!
What type of shallow, empty, thoughtless robot would I be to simply vote for someone based on their anatomy? Wouldn't I be anti-Semitic if I refused to vote for Bernie because he was born an ethnic Jew, or if he weren't ethnically Jewish, but had converted to Judaism? Yet, it's perfectly acceptable to consider and label me a self-hating woman (or, that CT thing – I'm a man pretending to be a woman), because I have chosen Bernie Sanders as my future President.
WTF is that all about? Seriously! WTF is wrong with you people?
Why I FEEL THE BERRRRRN!
The reasons I have for supporting Bernie, have been shared by others on this site, on other sites, and in real life, repeatedly, far and wide. It's about the issues. It's about the trustworthiness. It's about the track record. It's about consistency.
It's also personal: I make a whopping $10.50/hr in a non-climate-controlled warehouse – with a degree I still owe tens of thousands on. Bernie can relate to me; he knows I need help out of this hole. He knows I, and hundreds of thousands of people just like me, actually exist. He wants to help us out of the holes we're in too. To Hillary, I'm invisible. Because I'm a female Bernie supporter – I don't count; we're all the unicorns of the voting populous. We aren't important. If we her, she’d support a $15 minimum wage for one of, if not THE largest group of workers in the U.S., working women. Plus, I don't belong to the "dead broke" millionaires' club to which she and her buddies Albright, Steinem, et al belong.
It's also about the fact that I believe (READ – I BELIEVE not know) that Bernie will not receive the pushback when dealing with the Republicans in DC that Hillary will. As I see it, they've had a case of the ass at her for decades. They seem to hate her as much as they hate Obama, maybe even more – and her continually evoking his name/policies (the ones they fight tooth and nail to block), only adds fuel to their hate-filled fire for her. Don't get me wrong, she's definitely a badass; but, she's Obama's Third Term to them (and me, only she’s wayyyyy more hawkish), so they'll refuse to work with her from day one, just like they did with him.
However, even the ones who don't agree with Bernie's policies don't seem to seethe with unadulterated hatred for him. Some actually respect, dare I say like, the man.
And, there's also the emotional part – the hope, the passion, the total trust in his sheer tenacity and his incomparable commitment.
This middle-aged, underpaid, underemployed, vagina having, single mom, Feels the Bern, and she’s all in!
Lastly, there's this:
