Bernie Sanders received 151,578 votes in the 2016 New Hampshire Primary, BY FAR more than any candidate in the history of primary elections there. Hillary received 95,249.
Here are the numbers for the front-runners in the 2008 race.
Hillary Clinton |
112,404 |

Barack Obama |
104,815 |
Hillary Clinton receives 10% fewer votes than 2008. Not exactly building a groundswell for your campaign in a state you easily carried 8 years ago against the eventual nominee…
It is true that Granite Stater’s consideration for ‘socialist’ Bernie may owe to being conjoined twins with his home-state Vermont. Nonetheless, these are big changes, as late as October HRC commanded a 10% lead in NH. Who isn’t excited to see what happens going forward (NEVADA, SOUTH CAROLINA, SUPER TUESDAY)? Probably everyone over at H→
When all is said and done, Bernie may not win this election, but it will not be at the expense of the Democratic Party’s Platform of the next few election cycles, which is PROGRESSIVE. Bernie is proving himself worthy of more support at every turn.
Hillary Rodham Clinton is clearly a gifted legal mind, and no doubt works tremendously hard to influence perception in her favor (like Obama’s hOpe, H→ is a brand for mass consumption). Apparently, most young people do not want a candidate who they can just project their desires onto and call it a day, but someone who is consistently advocating for policies that will work best for their families. That said, Democrats should not be afraid of exploring alternative paths to political power, or at least tone it down with all the high-priced fundraisers and luncheons for the movers and shakers where you soullessly appeal to their greed #Imnotwithheronthat
