THESE are the times that try men’s souls. The summer soldier and the sunshine patriot will, in this crisis, shrink from the service of their country; but he that stands it now, deserves the love and thanks of man and woman.
Tyranny, like hell, is not easily conquered; yet we have this consolation with us, that the harder the conflict, the more glorious the triumph.
What we obtain too cheap, we esteem too lightly: it is dearness only that gives every thing its value. Heaven knows how to put a proper price upon its goods; and it would be strange indeed if so celestial an article as FREEDOM should not be highly rated.
Thomas Paine — Written December 19, 1776
Tonight I am glad we have South Carolina behind us. I am glad we tried our hardest to get our message out in this state despite great odds against us from the beginning. In the end all we can do is work as hard as we can until the convention in July in Philadelphia to get our message out. I am extremely proud of how hard all our campaign workers have worked for Bernie in South Carolina, and their courage, but it obviously was never meant to be in this state. We must never forget in the future the folks who showed the courage to stand with us in these southern states. They must be supported. They are the foundations of change.
Do not be discouraged!
That is what the powers that we are fighting against are counting on: for us to become discouraged. That is why the main stream media does not cover you. They do not cover your huge rallies or your marches across the nation. They fear you and your message. They can not cover you in a positive light or in truth. They are certainly corporate owned and against your struggle. Turn them off. Boycott their advertisers if you can. But do not give up your fight. We must redouble our efforts to work until the convention.
We can see our growing, young, and vibrant, coalition is doing fine in so many places all around America! The rallies today in Texas and Minnesota were wonderfully attended and passionate. I am hopeful they will result in winning some amount of delegates in both states.
Tonight I hear Bernie got 47% of the under 45 year old vote in South Carolina. Dwell on that for a second. The old roads are rapidly fading. Because that is pointing toward future change in the toughest state that Bernie Sanders will have to compete in.
There are 46 states left. We will get stronger and stronger now after “Super Tuesday”. We may even be more competitive in other places then folks think right now. Win areas, win delegates, support all those wonderful politicians who supported Bernie in these early times. Never forget them. This is a long struggle and never lose heart or have a negative thought about fighting for the future that we need. Because this race is long and must be fought county by county throughout the entire United States of America to win back the soul of Democracy.
Your future now looks incredibly bright. Do not listen to the nay sayers on this site or elsewhere. It is a war of love we wage. Make them use every trick they have and every super delegate. Remember: Their time will come to an end sooner then they think. This fight of ideas in our party MUST be fought to the very end.
Love thy neighbor — Sanders.
Hate thy neighbor — Trump
My response, seeing this coming, was to work hard this last week to elucidate as many of my friends as I could to DONATE NOW to Bernie’s (Our) campaign. It is exactly times like these that we need to watch and see who steps up. It is easy for folks to have words but only actions mean anything real. I am over 60 but you that are young must see and know who are real by their actions at this crucial point in history. If they do not stand up right now for you in what appears to be a defeat (after this very tough state) then never forget those that hide now, or only step up when politically or financially expedient.
So I have done what I did for Barack Obama and Bill Clinton and John Kerry and Jimmy Carter and all Democrats back to JFK when I handed out flyers as a child, and that is help them raise funds and awareness.
I have doubled my efforts and I am ready to triple them after “Super Tuesday” when that is necessary to make the powers that be know WE WILL NOT GO AWAY. We are not summer soldiers or sunshine patriots. We are mostly young and many many many older Americans who want their freedoms back. Who want America back.
Fight to the convention. County by County. Door to door.
Show this man who has worked so hard his whole life for us that we will never quit on him.
FIGHT TO THE CONVENTION!
