It’s always Emotional for me. Election day in SC.
Such a simple ballot. No impediments to voting (well, did have to present a voter ID). Saturday voting.

I went to the polls today to vote in our primary. It is one of the simplest voting experiences I’ve ever had. Three minutes were allocated for the vote. Certainly no one was timing, I don’t know whether timing is programmed into the voting machines. I guess it’s possible. I don’t know if three minutes is the usual time. With a general election ballot, with lots of offices up for election and lots of issues to vote on, three minutes could be very short. But for today it was simple enough. Click one button, review, record the vote.
But it’s so much bigger than those quick moments.
I had the floor to myself. Three voting machines were set up for my (very red) district. One other person was in the room speaking with the poll workers, I know not why. I did not see the person vote either before me or after me. I had the place to myself. The poll workers smiled, were nice and cordial. One lingered over my driver’s license, making a pleasant joke.
And, yet …, and, yet, I walked out of there with tears in my eyes. At the great emotion of the moment. Exercising that sacred right and responsibility, indeed the most sentient exercise of our rights. I can’t think of another explicit act that conveys our will more clearly/more emphatically to the world. The culmination of my efforts over these past months. Yes, even if a much greater culmination awaits in November. It’s a powerful commission and commitment. I know you feel the same.

Brillig's ObDisclaimer: The decision to publish each nomination lies with the evening's Diarist and/or Comment Formatter. My evenings at the helm, I try reeeeallllyy hard to publish everything without regard to content. I really do, even when I disagree personally with any given nomination. "TopCommentness" lies in the eyes of the nominator and of you, the reader - I leave the decision to you. I do not publish self-nominations (ie your own comments) and if I ruled the world, we'd all build community, supporting and uplifting instead of tearing our fellow Kossacks down.

From Tara the Antisocial Social Worker:
In Hunter's diary Marco Rubio: 'We are the party of diversity, not the Democratic Party', Spider Stumbled had this observation about what Rubio, Cruz and Carson show us about Republican notions of "diversity."

A bit of a Zen comment here by TheMeansAreTheEnd, in VetWife’s everything..Can
From HedwigKos:
In Chris Bowers’ diary about the difficulties of turning out new voters, especially by phone calls, which seem to have reached a point of diminishing returns. Phil in Denver offers a different approach entirely to reach voters to increase turnout; and dano2l
asks for more ideas, and teresahill, Catte Nappe, and Mopshell answer, with further ideas.
