A little while ago I was at the Goodwood Mansion Museum and Gardens in Tallahassee. The garden grounds have been restored to the condition they were in at the time of the First World War, and all the plants in the gardens are original heirloom varieties from the 1920’s. So here are some photos of some plants I encountered on the grounds.
The Daily Bucket is a regular series from the Backyard Science group. Here we talk about Mother Nature in all her glory, especially the parts that live nearby. So let us know (as close as you are comfortable) where you are and what's going on around you. What's the weather like? Seen any interesting plants, bugs or critters? Are there birds at your feeders? Deer, foxes or peahens in your yard? Seen any cool rocks or geological features? Post your observations and notes here. And photos. We like lots of photos. :)
Some of these are planted on the grounds, and some are wildflowers that have moved in. Alas, since I am plant-challenged, I can provide no IDs—I leave that to our more plant-savvy Bucketeers. :)
And now it’s your turn: what are these things growing in my neck of the woods? :)
