Now I’m not a citizen nor a resident. I’m Nordic, a Finn, so a helpless bystander. I’m so much more focused on avoiding Trump or Cruz as the leader of the free world than electing Bernie over Hillary or vice versa for the Democratic candidate. I’m seriously scared about the GOP, I’m not thinking about a revolution, I’m thinking about avoiding an Armageddon.
Ideologically I’m closer to Bernie, obviously, but at the same time I have really hard time believing that he could withstand the epic shitstorm that would be waiting for him in the fall — for the very first time in his career. With Hillary I know that she has already faced it — for a quarter century. So I do root for her, but at the same time I see Bernie’s serious challenge as god sent: he is dragging the party towards the left, towards more progressive positions. He is recruiting a wealth of talent and energy to the party: he is the future. But Hillary is the present: a great moderate left-centre politician and stateswoman who is unimaginably, stratospherically better than either of the semi-fascist opponents that will face her in the fall.
