Received this e-mail today from U.S. Senator Al Franken (D. MN) in support of Secretary of State Jason Kander’s (D. MO) U.S. Senate campaign:
There’s not much I can tell you about Jason you don’t already know.
You know that he’s spent his life serving the people of Missouri: in the military, in the state legislature, and as Secretary of State.
You know he’s 100% devoted to coming to the Senate and changing the broken system. And if anyone can do it, it’s him.
Plus, he’s got a great sense of humor, which is something I appreciate. And his emails are ALMOST as funny as mine.
In conclusion: Jason would make a fantastic Senator. I’ve heard you guys are trying to raise $45,000 before the all-important FEC deadline to help Jason win this race, and you’re still short. Click one of the links below and make a contribution before time runs out.
There’s something else I know a little something about: Close races. I won my Senate race in 2008 by 312 votes (and no, that’s not a typo).
This has been called the “sleeping giant” of races -- no one thought it would be competitive until Jason came along, gave it a poke, and the giant came roaring into every “top Senate race in the country” list.
There are two major reasons he was able to do that. First -- he’s perfect for the job. And second: he’s got all of you helping him out.
I wouldn’t have gotten where I am today without my team of dedicated supporters. You guys can make the difference. And you need to reach every goal to do it. The huge FEC fundraising deadline is just 24 hours away. I’m asking YOU to help him reach his $45,000 goal by making a contribution.
Thank you.
Al
P.S.: Not sure if you’ve ever seen this before, but allow me to introduce you to the extra ask in the P.S. This is where I ask you, one more time, to click this link and give $5 or more toward Jason’s $45,000 FEC goal. One day, everyone will use it.
