The campaign of Senator Bernie Sanders (D-VT) is making its final push for New York, three days before the critical primary and counting with two rallies planned in New York City and more importantly: a lofty goal of 2 million phone calls by 15,000 volunteers in the state.
This effort has been advertised on Sanders’ facebook page as well as Reddit, which has long been an activity hub for millennial volunteers to the campaign. According to berniepb.com, a site which tracks some calls made by Sanders volunteers through phone-banking, there have been over 381,000 calls to Democratic voters in New York out of an updated goal of 420,000 (the previous goals were 200,000, 260,000, and 300,000 calls). Today, callers on berniepb.com easily surpassed their goal of 50,000 calls with what is now a total of 86,000 calls and counting as of this writing. I do not know the total number of calls to New York by phonebankers and Sanders campaign staff, but juding by the enormous number just from several hundred people on berniepb.com I suspect it is quite high.
For Sanders supporters:
I have signed up to phonebank tomorrow from 3 to 6PM ET from the West Coast (not bragging, this is the first time I’ve done it).
Right now, there are roughly 13,900 people who have volunteered to phone-bank this weekend. If you have the time to do a little phone-banking tomorrow — on Sunday — please sign up here.
If you do not know how to phonebank and are interested in getting a quick education on it, you can find tutorials here as well.
If you have already done a lot of phone-banking, canvassing and volunteering then thank you very, very much for your efforts. I cannot state the importance of that enough.
