Thoughts about Hangouts, peace, and keeping Hillary supporters around.
Firstly, everyone is welcome to participate. Daily Kos is a #community and we'd love to have everyone join this party. Secondly, to the new, fresh voices that have joined us... the best rule of thumb about how to participate in diaries comes from the Mighty Kos himself: Participating in someone else's diary. Read it, follow his guidelines and if anyone gives you trouble, go to the Help Desk, refer to that post and say ‘Hey, I followed Kos’ guidelines!’ and you’re good.
On that note, we request that members no longer ask for "rescue me" requests in our open diaries. Instead, please open a thread at the Help Desk. You may not get a response, but that doesn’t mean that it isn’t being handled. :)
Now if any anti-Hillary comments show up I truly believe that the best defense is to just ignore those comments. Unless it’s a heinous, truly flag-worthy one, flag away, but otherwise don’t respond. Honestly if those comments are ignored that is THE worst thing you can do. The ABSOLUTE worst. They *want* your attention; they *want* your response, your anger, your frustration and your time and energy devoted to disproving their point—they’ll never agree with you anyway (which is their right)—rather than just enjoying your time on your favorite political blog. So just take a deep breath and scroll past. That is my suggestion.
Frustration is deep, however, we don't want to lose any(more) of our Hillary supporters here at Daily Kos (or our Hillary supporter diaries) so it might be best to focus these diaries on Hillary, Hillary-related discussion, what's going on in the primaries and not so much with the Bernie supporters. We may not agree with their choice of candidate (as they don’t with ours). We may not agree with how they choose to view our candidate or their method of campaigning, but they have the right to do so and this is Kos’ site. As of now he is allowing the site as is and as long as we are posting here we must abide by how things are run.
I believe that things will change for the better, just as Hillary believes… so like her, I am choosing to take the higher road. I think it’s best that we all try and do the same. For ourselves, for our community. Like Lysis said in this morning’s HNV: “We’re winning this primary. How sad it will be if once our victory is official, we’re celebrating with fewer Hillary supporters around here because they’ve been BOJOed.” Talking about Bernie supporters can be seen as personal attacks—whether intended as such or not—it’s best that we don’t open up any of the Hillary Supporter diaries to that charge. What you do is up to you… we can control ourselves. But I look at this way, we have an awesome role model who has shown us how to do so with grace, style, logic and humor. (Not to mention those adorkable dancing moves, Added bonus: Thumbs up, LOVE!!)
