Let me start by saying that I have two or three political heroes. One is Hillary Clinton (I’ve been a Clinton supporter since the “I could have stayed home and bake cookies” comment), one of the others is Elizabeth Warren.
So, I wonder what other people think about a Clinton/ Warren ticket?
So far I hear two reasons why that’s not a good idea:
One: two women would be a risk.
I fail to see that, since we’ve always had two men tickets, and that wasn’t a risk either. People that are prepared to vote for Clinton are already over the sexist bs the media throws at us, and I don’t think two women would scare them away.
Two: we need her senate seat. I think that last argument is serious, but I also think a quick re-election could happen, and MA is firmly in the democrats camp anyway.
So: what about Elizabeth Warren would be positive?
Lets see:
1: I appreciate she’s a very strong woman, who fights for her ideals/ opinions.
Unlike Bernie she is known as a progressive who actually gets things done in congress/ the senate.
In other words: she’s effective. That side of her, her ability to work with people and to get things done could be very useful.
2: She would be effective in bringing the Bernie supporters in the democratic camp. She’s very well liked among independents and progressive democrats.
But also on a deeper level: she could basically function as someone who would stress the points Bernie has been making in this campaign: wall street reform, campaign finance reform, bank regulation etc.
I am someone who feels both Hillary and Bernie are progressives, just on different issues. Bernie on the financial reform side, and Hillary on the social issues, like women’s rights, gun control, racism, children’s rights, etc.
This isn’t an anti Bernie diary, but I do feel Bernie is really weak on these last issues, seeing them as unimportant or even establishment issues.
A Clinton/ Warren ticket would basically combine the best of both campaigns/ worlds so to speak. It would also show appreciation for the fact Bernie managed to get so many young people involved into politics, and it would be a positive gesture towards them.
3: It has been argued Clinton needs someone from the Hispanic community as VP, to make sure Hispanics will come out to vote.
But to put it bluntly: Trump alone offers enough reason for Hispanics to come out and vote.
4: don’t forget Clinton And Warren get along very well. Warren was one of the people who urged Clinton to run, and when both of them were Senators, they worked together on many issues.
5: Warren would be perfect as attack dog against Trump. You only have to read her recent Twitter messages against Cruz or Trump to see how effective she’s here.
Here are some interesting reads about the possibility of a Clinton/ Warren ticket:

Anyway, I’ll admit Warren is my personal preference based upon the admiration I feel for her, but I wonder what other people feel about her as VP?
