~Cue old-time news-real music and announcer from the war effort days, showing film of war nurses, Rosy the Riveter and other film of women doing the hard work during wartime~
This week the WOW (War On Women) Team slogs on in the trenches of the war on women, the war that never stops, battle after battle, day in, night out. ..No matter where you live, your social or economic status or even whether you believe there IS a war being waged, here we are just the same.
Some days I can see the progress, some days I lift my head over the trench wall to see the pain and grief of my fellow sisters and brothers. Duck my head before I am a victim, realizing we are all victims to one degree or another. For how can you traverse life and NOT be affected to one degree or another by this thing called life.
Thanks to the WOW Team for all their links, support and submissions for this weeks installment!
Tara the Antisocial Worker, Elenacarlena, Besame, Eyesbright, Ramamra, and all the other team members that make this community is so supportive and I am glad to see us growing our members.
Please feel free to offer to fill a vacant spot in the comments, so your special way of framing the WOW can be heard by others.
Thank You to all who witness, survive and thrive.

These “art monsters,” as writer Jenny Offill memorably termed them in her 2014 book Dept. of Speculation, are sometimes women, but they are most often men. The constraints they rail against are female, either explicitly or implicitly: requests for time and attention, petitions for financial support, or expectations of conformation to social norms. To such demands, the art monsters react poorly. “Baudelaire longed for escape from ‘the unendurable pestering of the women I live with,’ ” Brooks writes. “Verlaine tried to light his wife on fire … Faulkner’s 12-year-old daughter once asked him not to drink on his birthday, and he refused, telling her, ‘No one remembers Shakespeare’s children.’ ” Toward a New Theory of the Bad Dad and Husband
