Welcome to Sunday All Day Brunch. This is an open topic thread so help yourself to the goodies and sit a spell and let us know what is new with you. One thing about being owned by a cat is you will never be bored. They are curious, amusing, and love to "help." Pixie is my little tuxedo who probably is more basement cat then ceiling cat.
Pixie loves water. Somehow the memo that cats don’t like water never got to her. She loves to watch the toilet flush or water go down the drain. She would get my Mom to pour water down the drain for her for several minutes at a time. Pixie would jump up on the bathroom counter and watch as Mom washed her face or brushed her teeth knowing she could watch the water magically disappear. She does it to me too but unfortunately I don’t have the type of counter Mom did. Mine just barely has enough counter space to enclose the sink. So I have to lean over her to spit out toothpaste. I’m sucker enough to do so because she has the most darling expression on her face as she is waiting for the water to go down the drain.
Pixie also likes toys that she can throw around the house. I have frequently heard things go crash and found one of her toys in the middle of things that were on a bookshelf. Of course little Miss Innocence has no idea how the things got on the floor and her toy moved all by itself. Her favorite excuse is a “localized earthquake” that occurred only under the bookcase or table in question that threw her toy from its basket to where the things are now on the floor.
Pixie loves to help me make the bed. It goes like this pick up cat and put on floor. Take the quilt and bedspread off. Pick up cat and put on floor. Take the blankets off. Pick up cat and put on floor. Take top sheet off. Pick up cat and put on floor. Take bottom sheet and pillowcases off. Pick up cat and put on floor. Put on new bottom sheet. Pick up cat and put on floor. Put on new top sheet. Pick up cat and put on floor. Put on blankets. Pick up cat and put on floor. Redo blanks and add bedspread and quilt. Pick up cat and put on floor. Put toys on around helpful cat who refuses to get down one more time.
Wrapping Christmas presents is a challenge. Pixie loves present wrapping time. She sits on the paper. She grabs hold of the ribbon I’m trying to use. She takes off with the ribbon curls I’m making for the bows. She gets tape stuck to her so I have to stop and unstick her. I sometimes think it would be easier to wrap her up first and then do the rest of the presents. ;-)
She helps me decorate the tree. Off course that means pulling her out of the tree frequently and retrieving the ornaments she bats around.
She especially loves to help me create jewelry and scarves. The scarves are as Reid says "knit one purl two pixie pulls out three." She is always pulling yarn out of my hands. She is even more helpful with the jewelry. Pull chain from hand. Bat around the decoration I need to put on. Lay across the supplies. Disappear with supplies. I once found the decorative chain I needed a few days later in her food bowl.
That's my girl. She is never boring.
