Full disclosure: Bernie supporter here, but I am trying very hard to let you know that this is purely a tactical/thought exercise and I will NOT belittle Hillary, nor ignore MATH. Please hear me out:
Let us first acknowledge several facts/perceptions that are prevalent and more than relevant to the Democratic Party, win, lose or draw for Bernie.
First is that Bernie’s campaign has totally confounded and more than exceeded ANY level of expectation when he launched his campaign. Besides the immediate and — supposedly! — death-knell of openly embracing the “Socialist” label (second/tied with Atheist) as the “most-hated” term in American politics, he was also tackling what we all must acknowledge as probably the most powerful political machine in Democratic (if not American) politics. I say this without snark; remember that this was supposed to be a Bush vs Clinton campaign way back BBT (Before Bernie and Trump). MUCH of this support is new, previously un-engaged, younger voters — the FUTURE of the party.
Second is that — likewise — Trump has totally exploded the R party and opened the possibility of truly opening down-party candidates….IF….
Third is that we MUST acknowledge the overlap (on the positive, not negative side) between Bernie and Trump supporters that can be crucial in the battleground states: blue-collar workers (of ALL colors!).
So, how does this translate into Hillary abdicating her MATH lead and joining Bernie as VP? Easy:
Remember that one of the main jobs of VP is head of the Senate. With her great ability to get things done and work across lines (think LBJ) to get some of the big, wild-ass — but Inspirational! — dreams of that radical actually passed, we could have the best of both worlds: Bold, inspirational leadership driving the populist message while the get-it-done types put together workable, passable legislation.
Again, just a thought exercise and no belittlement/ignorance-of-reality intended.
Peace!

Even though I posed this diary — as I said at the VERY beginning — purely as a “tactical/thought exercise” thing and NEVER said anything negative about Hillary, the vehement sexism in the comments here have really set me back. Sure, I expected a few “..because she's a WOMAN” posts, but...WOW!
For the record, no — I am not a woman. Obviously that makes me unfit to even offer a humble abstract thought experiment without snark or rancor, but….
Sigh — you guys feed the Rush Limbaugh FemiNazi narrative that nourishes the Trump supporters. Too bad as that narrowness of outlook feeds on itself.
Peace!
