Before you got fitting me for Klu Klutz Klown sheet let me put it out there that my partner of 22 years is a person of color. Visibly so. While at his side I have witnessed racism and it is not pretty. Furthermore, the KKK burned down my great grandpa’s barn here in Wisconsin — with the animals trapped inside — because he was a French immigrant. So trust me when I say I don’t tolerate racism, bigotry and hatred.
So, on that note,...(and I’m not the world’s best proof-reader, especially when what I post really isn’t going to make all that much difference because I’m not a bahzillionaire!)
What’s worse? A president, Trump, who by his very nature puts the nation’s focus on race relations or four more years of a slippery tongued neo-con lulling us into complacency while the velvety gloves of a fascism slowly tighten around our necks, Hillary? By “slowly” I mean “incrementally.” You know, as in “incremental change.” The same change that when applied to the household incomes of the average Americans slowly ratcheted them down and then out of the middle class without too much protest.
99%’s cannot afford to languish for another four years. Race relations are already horrific! Why? I’d hazard a guess that America is good at what our leaders spend their time on — the profits of international corporations. If that emphasis countermands progress on other things, so be it, they don’t care. So, the economic brutality inherent in a society premised on such a grand level of dispossession against at risk populations for the benefit of the few makes for a violent society. The philosophy that “we’ll just dump that in the local polices’ lap and give them some military grade weapons to help with the situation” is not a just remedy.
What’s more, despite the echo chamber of the main stream corporate media that stands to win if they can get their corporate shill Hillary elected, you should be aware that Hillary’s record of race relations is just as bad as Trumps if not actually worse. Clinton Inc. and their associates and affiliates have facilitated the existence of more than just a few murderous dictators in the world. Ethic cleansing is bigotry in the extreme. Read “Clinton Cash” and see if you don’t wretch. Clinton Inc. takes advantage of people disenfranchised by race and ethnicity and ultimately how it manifests in wealth. Worse still, apparently according to Clinton, if you are an at-risk population in a developing nation ruled by a murderous or indifferent dictator well that is a matter between you and your dictator and it won’t cancel any deal you have with Clinton Inc.
Clinton Inc.’s record on running rough shod on the members of the worlds indigenous peoples isn’t much better. All of it is done in the pursuit of profit. So, I ask you, what is more racist than turning a blind eye to someone you are dealing with who is murderous to a class of his or her own citizens or worse still has a history or ties to ethnic cleansing? To the best of my knowledge, Trump hasn’t aided the KKK with their finances or approached them with business opportunities.
Where is the $6 billion the Clinton’s collected for Haiti earthquake relief? Why is it ok to not give the Haitians the money? And of all the relatively paltry forms of aid the Clintons could have given Haiti, (e.g. schools, technology, medicine, etc.) why did Hillary Inc. decide it was best to build a resort - a shrine to the service sector - in Haiti in order to generate jobs?
Both Trump and Hillary Inc. have a hideous record on race relations. Trump is practicing racism to get elected, while Hillary practices racism as a way to enhance her and Clinton Inc.’s earnings. Trump’s race offenses have been of the spoken variety here, domestically, within the US. Alternatively, Hillary’s offenses have been acted out overseas and, by her fostering economic inequality, domestically as well. Trump’s offensives have been focused on by the media, Hillary’s have offenses have been kept out of the media. She has been given a free pass. The establishment is using the main-stream, corporate media (and now apparently Charter\Time Warner) to insight violence at Trump gatherings.
In my opinion, Hillary’s race offenses are worse than Trumps. Hillary consciously acts out her race offenses. Acts that reflect her views on what the 1% is entitled to do to those who are rigged into the 99%. The “99%" being a category of wealth and “wealth” in turn being a measure that captures all the insidious overt and covert effects of racial bias. If there can be no racial equality without economic equality, then Hillary is the consummate Grand Wizard of the KKK.
What else do we see in pursuit of Hillary’s two-faced approach to racism? Hillary filters what People are allowed to hear her say. She hires body guards to keep reporters at a distance and has used a noise cancelling machine to block anyone from hearing what she is saying to rich constituents. And if you think we are ever going to see an un redacted copy of her speech to Goldman Sachs you’re sadly mistaken. Thankfully, Trump is a novice political speaker and whatever is on his mind comes out his mouth no matter how offensive or stupid it is. At least you’ll know what you’re getting with Trump.
But that doesn’t make his appealing to racists feelings within a portion of the electorate ok. Trumps racist rhetoric doesn’t make anything better for anybody except Trump. By voicing his shit on race he passes out a catharsis to all those economically dispossessed Americans looking to put a face on their economic plight. People displace anger and a person who indulges that anger for them is their hero. What worries me is that if he is allowed to continue his expressing his racism after he becomes President it will catch on with the People who elected him. It is happening in Wisconsin now under Walker. I’ve never know Wisconsin to have so much racism...at its surface. How many of Trump’s supporters would express their views on race relations differently if they were doing better financially?
But here is thing, Trump is forcing the nation to think about race relations. He is forcing people to inspect their own attitudes and behaviors and come up with renewed definitions of what is and isn’t acceptable. He doesn't restrict his race infractions to overseas. My high school guidance counselor Sister Alphonsine may be right “angels often come disguised as devils it's how you react that reveals their true identity." Trump's poison is giving voice to a grave problem within our society. But, more likely as not any racism he sows as a President will not be tolerated by the American People. In my belief, whatever the true state of race relations are in America Trump being elected will officially make race relations in America a problem that requires action. I trust that he will be forced to changed. A boycott of his business interests would help. The international community may even apply pressure.
If the past 8 years have shown anything it is that under a neo-con focus on corporate profits race relations are pushed to the back of the bus. Once in office, and Bernie stops writing her campaign speeches, Hillary will resume her old neo-con behavior. The emphasis of the Washington establishment will continue to be on corporations (and the clintons themselves) accumulating ever increasing amounts of wealth and power at an ever increasing cost to the 99%.
She is following Obama’s "say-whatever-you-have- to-in-order-to-get-elected-after-which-you-can-do-what-you-want" strategy. I’d half expect a newly sworn in Hillary Clinton to affirm the oath of office then abruptly turn to the camera and give all the Americans watching the middle finger then storm off to waiting limo.
Both Trump and Hillary have a lot to learn when it comes to race relations and living as a decent member of the 99%.
“But what will become of the coming Supreme Court appointments?!” Point blank folks, after Obama and Ryan pass the TPP in the upcoming lame-duck session the TPP’s tribunal will be deciding on everything even remotely relevant to profit and/or the economy. The Supreme Court will be reduced to passing judgment on matters of social norms — and even then, only if these matters don't interfere with labor productivity. Trump has stated his opposition to the TPP. If forced, I’ll vote for Trump even if it means no progress on social issues coming before the supreme court because I am that concerned with the TPP and otherwise Hillary’s record on the environment. Besides I’ve already been forced to live in a world of hate. If he wants to Trump can deny climate change but it won't last and at least we will have avoided the negative effects on the immediate environment and more contained in the Democrats’ TPP.
It would also make me sleep a little easier if someone could please explain to me why the TPP Tribunal couldn’t decide in favor of a “foreign” investment concern who sued so that they could get access to American’s Social Security Trust Fund monies. They could say our Government’s current policy, procedures and laws unnecessarily hinder their profitability. It would be so much more profitable for them to be given the money to invest (aka gamble) in the financial markets. Could it happen? Maybe the answer I’m looking for is in the transcript of Hillary Clinton’s speech to Goldman Sachs?
Change isn't comfortable and sometimes we got to take our medicine in order to get better. When it comes to the establishment$$$ that rules BOTH the Democratic and Republican parties hating Trump, well then perhaps, “an enemy of my enemy is my qualified friend.”
Trump can make money without socializing the cost of it as a politician. Hillary can be bought and won’t bring change good or bad. Finally, I can not and will not ever again reward the Democratic Party with my vote after their having even so much as come up with a draft of something like the TPP and BIT. Especially, given the secretive manner in which it was done.
It is time to throw some sand in the gears of the establishment and if that means all I can do is hold my nose and vote for Trump so be it...if Bernie isn’t in the picture that is.
In any event, there will be more protests required.
