Oregon skies opened up on us last Saturday for our Bernie Ballot March from the Farmer’s Market to our county courthouse to joyfully cast our ballot for the Presidential Candidate of our choice: Senator Bernie Sanders!
The Bernie voters pictured here have been working hard for the past year to support our candidate by phonebanking, canvassing, staffing the Bernie Underground and the Bernie Table, writing letters, organizing events, data entry, and the myriad tasks involved in a grassroots donation-fueled effort to make our voices heard!
There are those in our own party who would declare the Primary Election over before their fellow Democrats have had a chance to vote. I call heresy upon those voices! As Oregonians, I assure you that our vote is every bit as precious to us as those who live in states which vote earlier than us. We will follow the lead of our own Senator Jeff Merkley who is the sole Senator brave enough to endorse the candidate of the people.
It is notable that Senator Merkley states that the energy for Bernie is so strong in Oregon that he has not seen one single Clinton button and absolutely no comments or questions about her in 21 town halls. He calls upon the party to welcome that new energy which Bernie brings.
Below are pictured many soaking wet Oregonians who ardently believe that their voice matters despite calls for them to not vote their choice but rather to serve as some kind of party underclass and vote for the Democratic National Committee’s choice. We worked far too hard for far too long to take orders from anyone!
Here is the photographic chronicle of the Bernie Ballot March. Many thanks to Blue Jessamine whose superior photographs are sprinkled among these!
