I have to be honest and say that the most annoying thing I hear from Clinton supporters is when they tell me I have to support the eventual nominee in the fall.
I am a Sanders supporter. I have given money to the Sanders campaign and this is the first time in my life I have ever donated money to a candidate for any elected office.
I have been a registered Republican for most of my life (Northeast so don't confuse me with those religious whack jobs who sound like theocrats) and I typically sit out most elections because there is never anyone to vote FOR.
I don't particularly care about Trump in part because I don't know who he is. I can't shake the feeling he saw a couple of episodes of the Colbert Show and thought, "is that what a Republican is? I can pull that off in my sleep!" Then proceeded to run on a lark. To me, a vote for Trump is a lottery ticket. Yeah, I might win but the odds are against me. While some people are terrified at the prospect of a Trump presidency the nihilist in me wants to see what would happen.
Clinton is a known entity who reminds me of a used car salesman. Yellow primer on that Crown Victoria with 250,000 miles? Why do I not believe you? She simply gives off a vibe that says, "I haven't technically broken any laws but you can sure bet that I broke the spirit of them."
When it comes to Bernie Sanders he sounds like the change we were expecting from President Obama. He sounds like a candidate to vote FOR rather than a person I am being guilted into supporting because the other guy is worse.
Sorry, but I have a third option, I can choose not to vote for either major party candidate. I could even vote for a third party candidate that holds views closer to my own. Such votes are not wasted as the major parties like to make us believe. After the election they allow the political class to see who and what the voters truly support. Also, I would be very upset if the lesser of two evils mistook my vote as support or a mandate for their vision when it was actually a vote against the other candidates vision.
So, for me, it truly is Bernie or Bust. I'll just sit this one out.
