Of all the insidious (as well as odorous) slams thrown at HRC is the idea that her election as the Democratic nominee for President was somehow a “coronation.”
This denigrates the tens of thousands of hard working volunteers who, like those who supported Senator Sanders, believed in their candidate to the point of forgoing family activities, social engagements, and other essential elements of their lives, in order to devote their energy and time to assist the person they believed was best for the future of the country.
It’s as bad as if HRC supporters yelled day in and day out about supporters of the failed revolution now advocating a ‘coup” given the pending loss at the ballot box.
Two candidates, each who have spent lifetimes working towards bettering the lives of others, battling for a position that only one can hold.
Coronations are what Perot, Forbes, Trump, etc wanted. To be gifted the Presidency without putting in the work.
That can’t be said about either of our candidate. But the unmitigated gall of the fervent Sanders supporters to de-legitimize her career, her convictions, and her passion, as well as the efforts and beliefs of the millions of people who voted for her, minimizes their own credibility.
Its the equivalent of “Sure he was great, but don't forget Ginger Rogers did everything he did backwards...and in high heels!” NOTHING WAS HANDED TO HER ON A SILVER PLATTER.
It was a campaign, hard fought, but determined by ballot, not by decree.
