Today was a rough day, I had to bid farewell to someone special. Many of you know my Mom passed away in August 2001; she had a wonderful partner in the years prior to her death. They never married because reasons, but were deeply in love with each other. My Dad died in 1990, so he was a grandfather to K1 (and met K2 once, as well), and to my sister’s kids. His love for my mother never wavered in the past 15 years, he never dated again, and in recent months he’d been saying he missed her dearly and it was time. Sadly, his health agreed, and he passed away on Tuesday. Because K1’s graduation party (with 50+ confirmed guests) is tomorrow and my niece’s graduation was at 5pm today in Connecticut, the funeral of course was today at 10am. In my hometown, 4 hours away. My sister and I knew we had to be there, however- so she drove in from CT, and K1 and I got up at 4:30am to make it there.
It was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. I was so glad to be there, and while I am not religious in the Catholic sense that both my Mom and her partner were, there is a comfort in knowing they are buried together in a place where their beloved mountains can be seen across a field. I am, however, still up and have 9 hours of driving a 6-speed on me, so please accept this open thread and my grateful thanks to Tara TASW for her collaboration so I can find my pillow! And with that, please follow me below the dingledoodle Story Break after a word from our sponsor…

Brillig's ObDisclaimer: The decision to publish each nomination lies with the evening's Diarist and/or Comment Formatter. My evenings at the helm, I try reeeeallllyy hard to publish everything without regard to content. I really do, even when I disagree personally with any given nomination. "TopCommentness" lies in the eyes of the nominator and of you, the reader - I leave the decision to you. I do not publish self-nominations (ie your own comments) and if I ruled the world, we'd all build community, supporting and uplifting instead of tearing our fellow Kossacks down.
From vcmvo2:
I thought that lambros gave an excellent summation of our history in this comment from motocat’s Sanders key campaign staff prepare to help Clinton win the General Election and unify the party.
In: Older Guy Here Who Doesn't Get It. Please Explain to Me...Wisper gives a beautiful and powerful justification for protests at Trump rallies.
Finally, the perfect monicker for Donald! Found in Abbreviated pundit roundup: Obama, Biden, and Warren on the trail will be Trump's worst nightmare. (Note: Comment was from Its the Supreme Court Stupid.)
I am submitting this comment by Throw The Bums Out, in this diary by Jeff Singer. If we don't run candidates and support them we won't win and I like the scenario Throw The Bums Out describes as a possibility if we don't.
From Onomastic:
Cactus Rose's comment in It's the Supreme Court Stupid's diary on a GOP Senator publicly praying for President Obama's death, articulated what we all can feel when daily facing human cruelty.
