“The Democratic race in 2015 received less than half the coverage of the Republican race. Bernie Sanders’ campaign was largely ignored in the early months but, as it began to get coverage, it was overwhelmingly positive in tone. Sanders’ coverage in 2015 was the most favorable of any of the top candidates, Republican or Democratic. For her part, Hillary Clinton had by far the most negative coverage of any candidate. In 11 of the 12 months, her ‘bad news’ outpaced her ‘good news,’ usually by a wide margin, contributing to the increase in her unfavorable poll ratings in 2015.”
He raised and spent the most money, all of it pure and holy money. He had a huge organization of staff and volunteers. He had the enthusiasm. He campaigned in all 50 states, a bunch of territories, and the Vatican. On all the issues he ran on, a majority of the American people agreed with him.
All that, and he still lost. Why?
Because he lost black and latino voters. Yet again.
I don't know what its going to take to get you all to learn. When you've got advantages like this and you still lose, you're not doing it right. Its not a conspiracy. Its not oligarchy. Its YOU. You've got one simple missing link. But you all just keep tripping on your own untied shoelaces.
You all might not want to heat what kos has been saying about this, but he's right. I've been saying it for years. If all you want is a lilly white progressive movement, with Simon and Garfunkel n shit, knock yourself out. You'll keep getting the same losing results. As for that pipe dream of winning over the white working class... heh. Even a buffoon like Trump could beat your entire message with a few well placed racial epithets. Did you see what happened to Jim Webb? Those people are gone folks. Live with it.
What would be best for this country is a progressive movement that wins elections. What would be best for this country is a populist movement among tomorrow's working class, not the one from the last century. But that's not going to happen until a lot of folks in the progressive leadership wise up. If it we're me, I'd be tired of 'fought the good fight' speeches. Especially with Mother Nature not really giving a shit about our timetable.
There are lessons to be learned from the Sanders Campaign. Just as there were from Bradley, Dean, and Edwards before him. I suggest you all find out what worked and what didn't. Otherwise, expect the same thing to keep happening.
