Good evening, Kibitzers! Happy summer! I hate the heat, personally, but I like the fresh produce from our local farm, so I guess it evens out.
Last Thursday, I treated myself to a day off from work because my BFF was in town, and I met her in Manhattan for brunch. We went to the Blue Dog Cafe on West 50th St. (It was very good!) Afterward, it occurred to me that I needed some new sneakers. The time to take care of a need like that is when I’m with my BFF, because she retired from Nike and consequently still gets the employee discount if she personally buys their merchandise. Accordingly, we headed over to Nike Town. As it turns out, Nike Town is in… Trump Tower!
So after my friend purchased my sneakers for me (yes, yes, “athletic shoes”), we needed to go into the Trump Tower main lobby and see the famous escalator. I was persuaded to go up the escalator and ride down for photos:
Oddly, even after I got to the bottom, I didn’t feel the slightest compulsion to say awful things, about Mexicans or women or anyone else. Well, except Donald Trump. We both had a few things to say about him.
Also, saw no sign of these, but you know they’re lurking in the underbrush!
Kitchen Table Kibitzing is a community series for those who wish to share part of the evening around a virtual kitchen table with kossacks who are caring and supportive of one another. So bring your stories, jokes, photos, funny pics, music, and interesting videos, as well as links—including quotations—to diaries, news stories, and books that you think this community would appreciate. Readers may notice that most who post diaries and comments in this series already know one another to some degree, but newcomers should not feel excluded. We welcome guests at our kitchen table, and hope to make some new friends as well. |
