About this National Anthem dust up….( Because talking about Bannon and his bigoted and racist history is less important for some reason) This is what has people upset:
No refuge could save the hireling and slave From the terror of flight or the gloom of the grave, And the star-spangled banner in triumph doth wave O’er the land of the free and the home of the brave.
that’s the end of the third verse of our national Anthem. Am i’m surprised? Nope. Article one…...Section two……. paragraph three of the constitution folks.
The Three-Fifths Compromise, is found in Article 1, Section 2, Paragraph 3 of the United States Constitution, which reads:
Representatives and direct Taxes shall be apportioned among the several States which may be included within this Union, according to their respective Numbers, which shall be determined by adding to the whole Number of free Persons, including those bound to Service for a Term of Years, and excluding Indians not taxed, three fifths of all other Persons.
So. Let’s count 6 out of every ten slaves for taxation and congressional representation purposes to prevent a landslide of southern seats… Hmm. The seeds were already planted in our constitution to have this line of thinking reach paper during the writing of the Anthem during our second War with the country we first proclaimed our independence.
The lack coverage of Bannon and his Bigoted racist propaganda push and the attempt to say that both campaigns are Accusing each other of Racism illustrate the discomfort of the media to cover race issues in this country. Hillary Clinton should not have to give a speech on the dark underbelly of Trump’s Campaign. The Media covered Bannon as the most dangerous operative in politics….. And not for the reasons Clinton described five days ago. They had a chance to seize the moment and Ask why A megaphone of bigotry is acceptable to run a presidential campaign. Sadly, Anthony Weiner is more of a threat to our republic than the hate , hurt and the effort to delegitimize people of color that propelled Mr Trump to his current position.
You can be patriotic, love this country and be critical of our history…. the journey toward a more perfect Union requires it. I won’t knock Colin Kaepernick or anyone else for utilizing their rights granted by the constitution, when that same document remind African Americans of how we were initially regarded as pawns in revenue and political representation disputes. That should make us all sit down and think about that for a moment.
