Welcome to Morning Open Thread, a daily post with a MOTley crew of hosts who choose the topic for the day's posting. We support our community, invite and share ideas, and encourage thoughtful, respectful dialogue in an open forum.
This author, who is on Pacific Coast Time, may sometimes show up later than when the post is published. That is a feature, not a bug. Other than that, site rulz rule.

This week, Bertie Gregory goes into the Pacific Northwest waters (temps run in the 40s and 50s) to photograph Steller sea-lions (Eumetopias jubatus), and discovers they are just as curious about him as he is about them.
If you’ve missed any of the earlier episodes, here’s a link to last week’s post, where you can also link to all the previous parts of this ongoing series.

Bertie is a lot braver than I am — I’d be freaking out if a 2,000 pound sea-lion decided to get up-close and personal. However, he is right that watching them play is “absolute magic.”
Everybody have a great week!
