Today is National Voter Registration Day. In one day, hundreds of organizations and thousands of people are running coordinated field, technology and media efforts to create awareness of voter registration opportunities—reaching tens of thousands of voters who may not register to vote otherwise.
Civil rights icon Congressman John Lewis (GA-05) is among the notables tweeting their encouragement of registering—by reminding us that the right to vote was fought for and won through blood.
There are a number of ways for you to stand with Rep. Lewis and do your part today. Here are a few examples (and feel free to share more in the comments):
HelloVote — Register to vote through text message.
HelloVote, created by Fight for the Future, aims to bridge the gap between non-registered eligible voters and mobile phone users through a simple, yet innovative concept: Registering to vote through text message.
