On the beach….
The Daily Bucket is a place to note what you are seeing around you: animals, weather, meteorites, climate, soil, plants, waters. Each note is a record that we can refer to in the future as we try to understand the phenological patterns that are quietly unwinding around us. A quickie late Bucket with critters at the beach — everybody’s finding food wherever they can.
Hooded Mergansers yesterday afternoon. One caught a sculpin with a big splash, and the others followed close behind as it paddled away. There’s always a chance she might drop it. Maneuvering a big fish into the right position for swallowing is tricky when you have no hands, and are worried about somebody stealing it.
Plant foods are more seasonal. Right now conifer cones are full of seeds.
(and ok just for fun,
my pooties wait for their dessert, workin it, looking cute… )
Time for you to fill this late Bucket with your observations of nature...
