First of all, I want to lead this off once again with my sincere thanks and appreciation to every member of the Kos community who showed me so much love, support and generosity over the last few days. You brothers and sisters have given Teri and I a peace of mind that we have not known for months, and I can never repay you for that. Thank you all.
Because of the enormity of the moment I strove to reply to every single person who took the time to comment on those two diaries. If I missed anyo9ne, I am truly sorry, but you have my undying love and appreciation.
I was struck by a couple of threads in the comments. The first was the groundswell of support for the management to make me a paid contributor. Believe me, if that offer came along I’d jump on it with both feet! If they do, I’m there. If they don’t, I’m still a passionate and loyal Kossack.
But the theme that stuck with me was the suggestion, compounded by several replies indicating that I should set up a sponsorship page for my work, Their reasoning was that if you do chalk portraits on the street, you get paid. If you publish an article in a magazine, you get paid. My output on the site is high, and apparently at least moderately popular due to my “Rec List” numbers. It is not charity, you are being compensated for your time and skills. Being a total wuss, I of course talked it over with Teri.
Today I took the plunge. I went to patreon.com and set up a page for sponsorship. I will add that link to the bottom of this diary, and it will appear at the bottom of all future diaries. I’ll be the first to admit it, I’m not very tech savvy. I looked for a way to make one time donations, but couldn’t find it. If you become a sponsor, the donations will be made on a recurring monthly basis until you stop. The contribution amount is set at $1.00, but you can change that manually. Just click on the link to my page, and click on “Become a sponsor” on the right side.
Please, let me be clear. I am a devoted Kossack. While I often spend hours on my diaries I do it out of passion and for the community, as well as my own personal gratification. Whether anyone here sponsors me or not, it won’t make the slightest bit of difference. I am a dedicated Kossack. I will continue to express my opinions, try to make you think and laugh, and piss you off for as long as humanly possible until the final day. Whether you choose to support me or not, I’ll continue to publish, and to respond to every comment that I can.
To close, nothing has changed. I simply am trying to generate a little income to allow me to continue to make my passion come true for my readers. As I posted in my follow up diary, each and every one of you are the wind beneath my wings, and I will strive to never fail you, even if you sometimes disagree with me.
Thanks as always for reading!
