Sweet Jeebus, please, if there’s any justice in this world, let The Orange Julius back out of the third debate! As much as I love all of you, I’ll admit I almost stayed with the Packers and Giants game. But I couldn’t do it. I had to be able to know what I was talking about, so I suffered through it, and I do mean suffered.
Trump’s performance was embarrassing. it was depressing. There was no content to it. Hillary kept saying that she wanted to answer the questions, and she tried to, but this time his interruptions kept sidetracking her. She spent too much time jabbing back, although she was calm, her facial expressions were wonderful, and she did something Trump didn’t do, she walked the stage to directly speak to the people asking questions.
Trump was a hot mess tonight. His sniffing was worse and even more noticeable than it was in the first debate, because he kept the mic up to his fat face all night. When he was speaking, she sat on her chair, taking notes and looking at him. When she was speaking, Trump prowled around his chair like a tiger in a cage. His interruptions were obnoxious and in some cases demeaning, and that most certainly isn’t going to help Trump with women voters.
The facial expressions, vocal tone and body language told the whole story, and I’m glad that most of the debate was done split screen. Trump’s voice tone was angry and pissed off all night, at some points his voice was scornful and vindictive. He totally flubbed his response to the Friday tape revelation. He didn’t want to talk about that, and he was clearly pissed at having to apologize over and over again, no more successfully than the first time, and he let it show. He dodged every question, almost angrily, and then wheeled to attack Clinton for everything short of the First World War and Fukushima. His criticism of the moderators over their trying to keep order was nonsensical. He actually spoke for one more minute than she did. Oh, and the little shit finally admitted on national t.v that he had used his casino losses to skip out on paying his fair share.
Clinton on the other hand was flawless. She was calm, steady and collected, she never lost her cool. I think her best moments were when Trump was spewing out silly shit. She just sat there, slightly shaking her head, smiling and in some cases openly grinning, literally looking at him like he was a silly child, telling a fantastic lie, she looked almost indulgent of him. In short, she looked calm, capable and Presidential, Trump looked petulant, pissed off and unhinged.
Some pundits are already saying that Trump won the debate because he took it to Hillary, and she wasn’t able to needle him. Personally I think this was purely strategic, she didn’t have to needle him. It was clear from the opening question that he was on a personal vindictive mission to personally and professionally humiliate both Bill and Hillary Clinton. All she had to do was to sit back and let him hang himself, and then ridicule him for his statements. And she did try to needle him, she brought up all of the GOP members deserting him, and he was laser focused on going after her.
The pundits can say what they want, Clinton got exactly what she wanted out of tonight. She looked calm, collected, informed and Presidential. Trump looked like exactly what he is, an angry, bitter, emotionally unstable old man with some kind of nasal disorder. It was no contest. Trump may not have set himself on fire last night, but he came close. This isn’t going to move the needle, and I expect the GOP defections to continue. Please dear God, no more of this!
Thanks as always for reading, you are ALL the wind beneath my wings.
