In his attempt to excuse the inexcusable, Donald Trump repeatedly claimed in Sunday’s second presidential debate that his comments about groping women was locker room talk. In fact he used that exact phrase — “locker room talk” — five times during the debate.
So it’s worth asking: is that really the way men talk in locker rooms? Let’s ask an expert.
No they don’t. And thanks, Sage, for setting the record straight.
Meanwhile, another ex-NFL player, punter Chris Kluwe (noted for his own ability to curse a blue streak when occasion warrants) also unloads on Trump in a piece today on vox.com (h/t ssmt in the comments):
Oh, sure, we had some dumb guys, and some guys I wouldn't want to hang out with on any sort of regular basis, but we never had anyone say anything as foul and demeaning as you did on that tape, and, hell, I played a couple years with a guy who later turned out to be a serial rapist. Even he never talked like that.
Miami Heat power forward (and team captain) Udonis Haslem has also weighed in against Trump’s comments in the Palm Beach Post (h/t Melquiades in the comments)
That’s not our locker room talk. I don’t know Trump very well at all, but I don’t know who he’s played for the last couple of years to even say he’s been in anybody’s locker room to have (heard) those kind of conversations.
I guess The Donald doesn’t really hang around locker rooms too much, does he?
